Although I came here yesterday morning, I will answer your question. I did not do anything special on Saint Valentine's day!! But I made a heart with heart chocolates and gave my husband a postcard. He bought me a special cream for moms, you know, in a couple of months my belly will start growing and I have to take care of my skin!!

In my case, I celebrated with my host family, which I found very strange... aren't you supposed to do it as a couple ? Well, it was the first time I got to celebrate it so... that was nice anyway ! I had started by buying myself some chocolates, but when I came back home, they offered me heart shaped cookies with my name on it and invited me for dessert (wednesday is my day off, so I kind of do my own thing), a nice chocolate cake and champagne !! That was sweet. But I think Valentine's day is just another way of making people spend their money on a "special occasion", that should happen every day !

My V-Day could be better. I didn't do anything special, I didn't meet my boyfriend because he doesn't live in NYC. OK, we did meet but online hahahaha...What a romantic thing, huh? At least my host family was very nice to me; my boss cooked dinner last night, then I found a Valentine card in my room. It was so cute! Anyway, it is my firm belief that Valetine's Day is a little bit overrated. People should show some love every single day, not only on Feb 14th.

Usually I am very well prepared for this kind of event. I plan something special at least a week in advance, and it's been always me that give a surprise. But this time, I couldn't prepare anything but a box of chocolate and a Valentine's card. (The chololate was insanely expensive, though. My thumbnail-sized tiny 16 pieces of chocolate cost more than $30!!! It's like $2 each.) My husband? He was just so touched. What did he give me? Nothing but love, which is all I need from him.

My valentine's day was quite fun!! I went for dinner with my boyfriend, his friend and the girlfriend of his friend at an ethiopian restaurant in amsterdam avenue, quite close to my house!! it is great cousin and the company was really nice! I also have a special love for Ethiopia because my oldest brother adopted two children from ethiopia 7 years ago, Zerihun and Zinash, who are my beloved nephiew and niece..I miss them so much!!
